Who are we

The Durham Community Action Group DCAG is a community-based, not- for-profit service provider that has been supporting and serving the community of Durham Region since 2008.
Although the community primarily served by DCAG is the Black or African Canadian community, DCAG has provided services and remains open
to serving all communities in the Durham Region.

Mission statement

Durham Community Action Group DCAG promotes the positive growth and development of the Black Community in Durham and across Ontario. DCAG serves the Black and broader community and is committed to providing a range of community- based services that support the progress and well-being of Black children, youth and families.

DCAG is committed to supporting all interest groups in pursuit of our mission, goals, and objectives. We work to encourage and facilitate active and informed parental participation in all areas, and at all levels of child development.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Provide culturally appropriate and relevant services to the Black Community.

Support and strengthen Black families to engage and interact with agencies and public institutions.

Act as a Resource Centre to assist families to access services and supports.

Provide opportunities for dialogue through educational workshops, public forums and community development initiatives.

Advocate for Black children, youth and families to reduce disparities and ensure better outcomes key sectors such as, education, child welfare, youth justice, mental health and law enforcement.

Act as a mediator for families and the community with key public institutions and community agencies.
